Locals had noticed the mass of brown gunk which is reported to be 12-15 miles long and drifting with the tides. The coast guard was sent to investigate the "blob" off the northern coast of Alaska in the Chukchi Sea. Its something that has never been witnessed before at least not by those in the towns Wainwright and Barrow where the substance washed up on their shores.
