#2 Parappa the Rapper

Parappa the Rapper was the defining moment for rhythm game genre, despite what sales numbers franchises like Guitar Hero and Rock Band spit out.

In Parappa the Rapper, you are Parappa the rapping dog who wants to the bestest rapper dude around. You rap your way through his life as you help him become famous by showing off your sweet rap skills.

Parappa the Rapper’s game play is (like most Rhythm games) press the button as the screen tells you. Only with Parappa the rapper doing as the screen tells you progresses the story. It require no plastic guitar, no dance pad, all it require of you was your Play Station controller and good timing. If you had both you pretty much owned at this game.

The music is memorial and is hilarious. There were times were I broke out in laughter as I played through certain stages, don’t tell me the a rap about how badly you have to use the bathroom isn’t funny.

Parappa the Rapper was a game that helped establish the Rhythm game genre as we know it today and ofcourse taught us a very important lesson...

"I gotta belive!"
