Moon Over Amtrak | City "Cracks" Down

It seems a bar bet in 1979 has turned into a time honored tradition as shown above from a 2005 photo. The objective, line up a bunch of people and drop your pants for the annual "Moon Over Amtrak." A mass mooning of daily train commuters in the town of Laguna Nigue in Southern California.

Apparently last year over 8,000 people participated in the event. But this year was a bit different. A meager 400 pranksters showed up this time around and with a far more "conservative" approach. Nobody was arrested, and everyone seemed to be fairly sober according to deputies on scene. A major change from the thousands who gathered 2008, many of whom were intoxicated and showing more than just their back sides.

It seems the Buzzkill came in the form of stricter resolutions by the city to curb the shenanigans. They including restrictive parking and threats to crack down on public intoxication and urination which was prevalent the previous year. No doubt babysitting thousands of bare ass drunkards is no easy or cheap task for the city.

Looks like they may need to take their act on the road if they want to continue with the tradition. Hmmm.. why not just enforce public nudity laws? Never a dull moment in Cali I guess.
